The importance of biodiversity to a company’s Environmental Management System, or programme of Corporate Social Responsibility, is increasingly recognised. Undertaking a Biodiversity Action Plan is the most effective way to demonstrate to stakeholders that this issue is being taken seriously. This is done by conducting a site survey and making recommendations for enhancing biodiversity within a particular area. Biodiversity Action Plans are also essential for serious competitors of the Tidy Town’s contest, where 50 points are awarded under the ‘Wildlife and Amenity’ category. Pádraic has been a Tidy Towns adjudicator since 2007.

OPENFIELD has carried out Biodiversity Action Plan projects for counties Louth and Meath, as well as Tallanstown Tidy Towns committee.
